El Segundo was the hottest place in Silicon Beach last Tuesday, as TS2 kicked off its “TS2 Presents” speakers series at the offices of Nurture Digital. Nearly 100 Silicon Beach tech executives were treated to micro-brews from Hopsy, handmade tacos from Nana’s Kitchen and expert commentary that lived up to the event’s promise to “Unlock the Secrets of Scaling and Monetization.”
AN ALL-STAR PANEL
Combining the talented financial, business and strategic minds of Chris Wise, Ron Scott and Alex Rubalcava led to a lively panel discussion that covered every aspect of what’s required to kick a company into high gear in today’s competitive technology industry.
Opening the program was Chris Wise, CEO of Wise Profits, a top-producing strategic growth consultancy, where Wise disseminated his expertise on cash flow, probability management and metrics for tech entrepreneurs, drawing on his experiences of selling two startups several years prior to forming Wise Profits.
Ron Scott, CEO of Vueality, followed with insights based on a long track record for scaling tech companies and how he is applying that experience directly to his new full-service VR game development and publishing studio. Drawing from his roles at Warner Bros. and Activision, his advice included creating repeatable processes, forging strategic partnerships with established players and the importance of laying a solid underlying foundation.
Closing the panel was Alex Rubalcava, Founding Partner at Stage Venture Partners, who briefly discussed his long-running VC background before focusing on pricing in today’s software startup market. Rubalcava spoke about the under-priced value most SaaS companies face after entering the market and when it’s necessary to either use high-list pricing, discounting, up-selling and/or cross-selling to avoid falling into the trap of low market valuation.
